Welcome

Pregnant woman with hand on belly

Congratulations on embarking on your pregnancy journey! We understand that this time is filled with excitement, questions, and perhaps some uncertainty. This comprehensive programme is designed to provide you with valuable insights, expert advice, and a wealth of information to support you.

This course, “What to expect when you’re pregnant”, is separated into collections, each covering different aspects of pregnancy to ensure a holistic understanding of this transformative time. Some of the collections you will encounter are:

  • Early pregnancy symptoms: Understanding and managing symptoms such as morning sickness, fatigue, and emotional changes.
  • Nutrition: Information on managing your nutritional needs, with guidance from our maternity dietitian, Yasmin, on nutrition and gestational diabetes, morning sickness, the role of dietary fibre, what to prioritise in your diet and much more.
  • Antenatal care: Importance of the first antenatal visit, what tests to expect, and antenatal vitamins.
  • Lifestyle adjustments: Guidance on exercise and avoiding harmful substances. Our midwife and personal trainer, Nadiye, provides a workout for this trimester, as well as a pregnancy core exercises routine.
  • Health conditions: Guidance on pre-eclampsia and pre-existing diabetes, as well as other conditions.
  • Mental wellbeing: Support from our psychotherapists, Nada and Jerliee, on pregnancy nerves, career concerns, relationships and matrescence.

All the content in the course has been created in collaboration with medical experts, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and relevance. We want you to embark on this journey equipped with the best and most accurate information.

Flexible content structure

The content is divided into themed collections, offering a structured and bite-sized approach. You have the flexibility to progress through the content in any order you like and at your own pace—whether you choose to dive into a new topic each day or take more time to absorb the information is entirely up to you.

Diverse content formats

The course includes a blend of written and video content: explore detailed articles, watch videos led by experts, and gain insights from healthcare professionals. What’s more, there are guided yoga classes and trimester-specific workout exercise plans and demonstrations.

Health warning

While the course aims to provide comprehensive information, it’s crucial to note that every woman’s pregnancy journey is unique. We strongly advise you to maintain regular and open communication with your midwife or GP throughout your pregnancy. Pregnancy is natural process that often doesn’t require any input from a doctor. Unfortunately, things can sometimes go wrong and you may need specialist support. If you encounter any unusual symptoms, or have concerns or specific health-related queries, seek professional guidance.

Confidence through information

Our overarching goal is to empower you with the knowledge and support you need to approach pregnancy with confidence. Whether you are a first-time mum or have experienced pregnancy before, “What to Expect When You Are Pregnant” is here to guide you in your pregnancy journey.
